Pairi Daiza collaboration - A cactus of considerable size

The most remarkable transport that Gosselin carried out in its collaboration with Pairi Daiza? Without a doubt, the impressive cactus, Pachycereus pringlei, from Tenerife, one of the most emblematic plants of the world’s largest tropical greenhouse, Edenya.

This cactus, 12 meters high and nearly 5 tons, arrived at the port of Antwerp only weeks before the official opening of Edenya. The timing was extremely critical. The plant had to be delivered by special transport, inspected by the FASFC, and then carefully placed in the new greenhouse — all before the opening date.

"It was the first time we had transported a cactus of this size. But exceptional loads are part of everyday life for Gosselin. Our people are experts at anticipating challenges and finding solutions where others see obstacles," says Team Leader Customer Service, Griet Goderis. Thanks to close coordination between our customs department, transport planning, and the people at Pairi Daiza, this delicate operation was also completed successfully.

“For Edenya, we were looking for a partner who was not only strong in logistics, but also understood how important timing, care, and precision are when working with living plants and unique pieces. We found that partner in Gosselin. The collaboration went smoothly and professionally, and we look forward to realizing even more projects together in the future.” Mr. Patzwahl, curator of Edenya
